Magenta Pink Hand Painted Butterfly Wind Spinner/Sun Catcher Window Hanging Art

Hand painted, hand crafted, sculpted, and designed by the artist (me), butterfly wind spinner/sun catcher/window hanging. It twirls and spins in the breeze and sparkles in the sunlight.

This 2nd butterfly wind spinner/sun catcher is done in shades of pink, magenta and purple.

I used permanently colored silver copper wire, a transparent amethyst glass stone, 2 amethyst swirl glass stones, and a light pink faceted acrylic gem at the bottom for extra sparkle.

I tried to photograph accurately but the butterfly is more pink than it appears and not as bright as it appears in the photos. The last photo against the white background is a more accurate depiction of the color.

The butterfly is approximately 4.5" wide x 5" tall x 1/8" thick.
The overall length from the ring at the top is 14".
This is lovely hanging in a window or on a porch or wherever it catches a slight breeze and sunlight. A unique, one of a kind, gift!

Hand Painted Butterfly Wind Spinner Sun Catcher Window Hanging Art

My newest project is this hand painted, hand crafted, sculpted, and designed by the artist (me),
butterfly wind spinner/sun catcher. It twirls and spins in the breeze and sparkles in the sunlight.

This one is painted in shades of purple, lavender and cobalt blue. The wire is sculpted from permanently colored silver copper wire. I also used transparent cobalt blue glass stones, transparent amethyst glass stones, and a light pink faceted acrylic gem at the bottom for extra sparkle.

The butterfly is wood and is approximately 4.5" wide x 5" tall x 1/8" thick. It is painted on both sides with acrylics, and a satin varnish was applied. I initialed one side. The body and the edges are embellished with glitter paint, and I applied a final coat of stardust glittering varnish for a bit of magic. :)

The butterfly is approximately 4.5" wide x 5" tall x 1/8" thick.
The overall length from the ring at the top is 14".
This is lovely hanging in a window or on a porch or wherever it catches a slight breeze and sunlight. A unique, one of a kind, gift!

Original Dreamy Misty Morning Clearing Woods Trees Painting

"Misty Morning In The Woods"
Acrylic on canvas panel
ACEO

10% of final sale will support Restore Australia's Forest After Wildfires-A Global Giving Project.

About this painting:
One morning, it was so misty and beautiful like a dream or a scene from an English fairytale. The air smelled sweet and fresh, the birds were singing, and I felt like I was in the woods of Camelot. I almost expected a gentle white horse or unicorn to come strolling out from the woods! I went out back of my house and took photos where the clearing meets the woods at the boundary fence. This painting is my first attempt at capturing that misty morning.

Sold to a collector in Massachusetts, USA.

The last couple of weeks have been unusually busy and I've had little time to paint. At last I managed to at least finish an ACEO!

My inspiration for this painting was a recent dream in which I found myself walking on a beautiful wooded garden path similar to this. Even in the dream I knew I had to paint it. Hope you like it! :)

Acrylic
ACEO 2.5 x 2.5
10% of final sale to support Environmental Defense Fund
SOLD to a collector in Oregon USA

An old rowboat tied to a tree by a river with threatening storm clouds in the background.

In this painting I tried to capture the ominous feel right before or immediately following a summer storm. There is something so beautifully thrilling, yet scary and forbidding, when the air is heavy, the wind picks up and it grows so dark during the day. The sun sometimes peeks through a crack in the dark clouds and casts a golden glow on everything it reaches. I just love summer storms! :)

Pull up a lawn chair and look out onto this spring view of a cove framed with mounds of daffodils in front of a rambling New England stone wall, brilliant forsythias, and a romantic magnolia tree. Ah, it's another beautiful spring day! :)

White Flowering Spring Tree Under the Moon

"White Moon Tree"
ACEO 2.5"x3.5"
Acrylic on linen panel
SOLD to a collector in the U.K.

I saw some lovely white flowering trees the other night. I've seen them every spring, but I don't believe I've ever seen them at night under the moon. I knew immediately that I wanted to paint them, so I took some photos. I most always have my camera with me for just such a moment! Here is one of my photos. The photo was taken in a parking lot and there was no grass as the area around the trees had been mulched. The moon was off to the left outside of the photo.

In my painting, I put the white spring flowering tree on bright green grass set against a black star-filled sky and illuminated by the moon.

Dragonflies are one of my favorite subjects to paint. In this painting the beautiful and graceful dragonfly flies above a gleaming pond by the light of a pale yellow moon and starry night sky. I wonder if dragonflies really fly at night.

Another painting done on an extra fine handmade canvas panel. Unfortunately the scanner did not pick up the correct blue and more graduated shades of the sky, and subtle color variations in the river. I think the actual painting is much nicer than the image here, with more detail and depth than I was able to capture with the scanner. :)

Acrylic on canvas.

This pastoral landscape painting is of cows grazing in a lush green pasture, with tree-covered hills in the background. In the foreground are a weathered wooden gate, an old stone wall, and wildflowers. My inspiration for this painting is a beautiful pasture along a scenic country road in Chichester, New Hampshire where Holsteins are grazing in the spring, summer and fall.

"Moon Dragonfly" Tranquil Pond Waterlilies Original Painting

"Moon Dragonfly"
Acrylics 9 x 12 canvas
Commission
Sold.

This was a commissioned painting done last year, of a similar ACEO that I painted. A tranquil evening water scene with a dragonfly hovering between the moon and the reflection of the full moon over the peaceful water of the pond. The light of the moon catches and highlights the translucent, iridescent wings of the dragonfly, as well as the tall grasses and waterlilies.

I decided to post this even though it isn't a new painting, due to the recent interest and comments on this painting on Facebook.

On January 14, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti. It has caused mass destruction and devastation. Tens of thousands of people were killed with many still trapped beneath the rubble. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering of these people. It has been 4 days and most survivors have still not had food, water, or received medical care. My heartfelt prayers go out to these people. Afternoon Snow Storm Original Pastel Painting Snowy Winter Day

"Afternoon Snow Storm"
Pastels ACEO (2.5" x 3.5") on sand paper
Sold.

I was driving Friday afternoon during a snow storm. I was amazed when I saw the sun still visible in the sky, though it was shrouded in a snowy haze that dimmed it's light. It was surrounded by dark blue and purple clouds. The fine snow falling and blowing around faded all the details of the landscape. It was so atmospheric...so moody. I couldn't wait to get home and paint it! I thought pastels would be ideal to express the mood.

"The Light After the Storm" Original Seascape Pastel Painting

"The Light After The Storm"
ACEO Pastels
10% of final sale will support Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
Sold.

Last summer, my daughter and I had planned a drive along the coast. It turned out to be a stormy day. We decided to go anyway, despite the weather, as we would not have another chance for quite some time. It was warm and humid, and pouring rain with thunder and lightening. (Lightening is quite amazing at the ocean!) It was the kind of conditions where it is difficult to keep your windshield from fogging up. We continued on, hoping for a break in the rain and a chance to walk along the beach. When the rain finally did stop, the atmosphere was just magical! It was hauntingly beautiful, as if it were a dream or fantasy. It was humid but there was a sea breeze. It was dark and it was light at the same time like being on a dark stage under a spotlight. It seems to have left a permanent impression in my memory. I wonder if it always looks that way on all stormy days at the beach or if it was just that particular day. In this painting, I tried to capture the atmosphere of a warm summer day after a storm.

New Original Painting for 2010, Blue Moon Reflection Quiet Winter Night Landscape Snow Trees

"A Blue Moon in January"
Acrylic 5"x7" on canvas panel

Happy New Year to everyone! How exciting! A blue moon on New Years eve! I hope you were able to see it. The moon is not actually blue in color. It's called a blue moon because it's a rather rare occurrence to have 2 full moons in one month. It's even more rare to have a blue moon on New Years Eve. The next blue moon on New Year's eve will be in 2028! That makes it feel like a huge event! It was such a blessing! Perhaps it signifies the year ahead will be filled with other amazing blessings, rare events and opportunities.

My first painting of the New Year, was inspired by the Blue Moon on New Year's Eve. Looking out my window, it was a quiet winter night. The trees were kissed with snow and the light of the full moon reflected on the snow and frozen pond. Winter in New England is not my favorite season, but I have tried to capture the beauty and stillness that I saw on that night...a Reflection of Grace! :)
