I love watching the dragonflies swooping and dancing over my backyard pond.  This is the inspiration for my dragonfly paintings.  In this painting, I imagine a graceful dragonfly with lovely, gossamer wings, flying over a  garden pond with waterlilies, at night by the light of a full blue moon...like a dream.

I have decided to do a Dreamscape series of ACEO's and larger paintings. This original tree/landscape painting falls into my surreal Dreamscapes series as well. I love where this painting takes me. I imagine laying in the tall grass of a lush green meadow on a warm summer night, star-gazing... :)

In desperation, Haitian villagers cut down trees to get fuel for cooking. Then the hurricanes came and eroded the farmland. Now family farmers have nothing to cook. A peasant organization in Haiti wants help planting trees so they can farm again.

Dragonflies are one of my favorite subjects to paint. In this painting the beautiful and graceful dragonfly flies above a gleaming pond by the light of a pale yellow moon and starry night sky. I wonder if dragonflies really fly at night.

I'm thinking of starting a series of dreamscape paintings in small or medium format.

Another painting done on an extra fine handmade canvas panel. Unfortunately the scanner did not pick up the correct blue and more graduated shades of the sky, and subtle color variations in the river. I think the actual painting is much nicer than the image here, with more detail and depth than I was able to capture with the scanner. :)

A sweet dreams tree stands happily against a star-filled deep blue sky with a crescent moon, and is surrounded by a lush green meadow filled with wildflowers.

I found these wonderful handmade extra fine canvas panels in ACEO size! I couldn't wait to try them. This is painted on a canvas panel. I love it! :)

This was a commissioned painting done last year, of a similar ACEO that I painted. A tranquil evening water scene with a dragonfly hovering between the moon and the reflection of the full moon over the peaceful water of the pond. The light of the moon catches and highlights the translucent, iridescent wings of the dragonfly, as well as the tall grasses and waterlilies.

I decided to post this even though it isn't a new painting, due to the recent interest and comments on this painting on Facebook.
