Winter Landscape Painting To Support Earthquake Relief in Haiti

"Blue Moon in January"
5 x 7 Acrylic on canvas board
20% of final sale to support the American Red Cross.
On January 14, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti. It has caused mass destruction and devastation. Tens of thousands of people were killed with many still trapped beneath the rubble. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering of these people. It has been 4 days and most survivors have still not had food, water, or received medical care. My heartfelt prayers go out to these people. May God bless the people of Haiti and may He bless the efforts of those who are there to help.
The American Red Cross helps victims of countless crises, like the recent earthquake in Haiti, around the world each year. The American Red Cross, provides immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need around the world.

Afternoon Snow Storm Original Pastel Painting Snowy Winter Day

"Afternoon Snow Storm"
Pastels ACEO (2.5" x 3.5") on sand paper
Sold.
I was driving Friday afternoon during a snow storm. I was amazed when I saw the sun still visible in the sky, though it was shrouded in a snowy haze that dimmed it's light. It was surrounded by dark blue and purple clouds. The fine snow falling and blowing around faded all the details of the landscape. It was so atmospheric...so moody. I couldn't wait to get home and paint it! I thought pastels would be ideal to express the mood.

January days are so cold and short in New Hampshire. Most days are overcast or cloudy, but the light reflects off the clouds so there are some amazing skies, sunrises, and beautiful winter scenery!

New Original Painting for 2010, Blue Moon Reflection Quiet Winter Night Landscape Snow Trees

"A Blue Moon in January"
Acrylic 5"x7" on canvas panel
Happy New Year to everyone! How exciting! A blue moon on New Years eve! I hope you were able to see it. The moon is not actually blue in color. It's called a blue moon because it's a rather rare occurrence to have 2 full moons in one month. It's even more rare to have a blue moon on New Years Eve. The next blue moon on New Year's eve will be in 2028! That makes it feel like a huge event! It was such a blessing! Perhaps it signifies the year ahead will be filled with other amazing blessings, rare events and opportunities.
My first painting of the New Year, was inspired by the Blue Moon on New Year's Eve. Looking out my window, it was a quiet winter night. The trees were kissed with snow and the light of the full moon reflected on the snow and frozen pond. Winter in New England is not my favorite season, but I have tried to capture the beauty and stillness that I saw on that night...a Reflection of Grace! :)

A Christmas Gift, Beautiful Music and Song "Christmas Canon"
Today, I had just pulled into a parking area that was facing snow covered rolling hills, when this beautiful "Christmas Canon" by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra came on the car radio. I just love this beautiful Christmas song... so I turned up the volume. Flooded with joy, my spirit began to soar. I felt transported over the hills, beyond the tree line to green fields under a star-filled sky in another place and time. In an instant, I could imagine being in the fields with the shepherds on that most Holy Christmas night, as the heavenly angels sang and proclaimed Glad Tidings to all. Tears ran down my face as my heart was filled with overwhelming joy.
Glory to God! Merry Christmas!

Whimsical Forest Cabin Woodland Cottage Decorative Christmas Birdhouse

I love birdhouses. Sometimes I just can't resist painting an interesting birdhouse. I saw this unfinished birdhouse, and immediately thought of a cabin or cottage in the woods all decorated for Christmas! So, I brought it home, sealed and painted it. I embellished with a some iridescent snow flake sprinkles and fine glitter. It is signed and dated on the bottom and coated with a clear acrylic finish for protection.
